Sample: How To Edit WordPress Custom Posts
WordPress Custom Posts
Client-Facing User Guide
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
These documents were created for a client who needed reference materials to add/edit content on a new WordPress website that our agency built (utilizing custom post types).
These documents were presented to the client as a training dashboard via a public-facing ClickUp document (with linked subpages). The client's identifying information has been redacted.
Note for sample: ClickUp documents are displayed continuously, meaning that accompanying screenshots are not separated from instructions by page breaks.
More About this Project
BizCo Studio's website developers built a new site for this client, utilizing custom post types in WordPress. This supports easier client and internal team content edits and additions. Custom posts are user-friendly interfaces to insert content, such as testimonial fields and featured images. They also support categorization in order to display content in a certain way on the website (for example, grouping certain testimonials on an intended page).
Once these custom post types were templated, we created a client user account in WordPress and designed a dashboard that linked to these how-to documents. It also included handy links, such as BizCo Studio's website edit request form. Using the client's user account, I created screenshots to purpose in the how-to documents. I outlined each step of the process, including a corresponding screenshot with visual annotations.
